Meet The Judges
All of our adjudicators are volunteer post-secondary film students in Toronto who have both youth and critical film perspectives.
Paxton Chan
Hi! I am Paxton, an international student from Hong Kong. I am currently studying at York University, majoring in Film production. I am passionate about making short films outside of school and my goal is to be a cinematographer. I look forward to seeing all of your amazing work and connecting with you!
Nicholas Mohammed
His work has been featured at the Finish Line Film Festival and published at the Inventio Magazine. He was the recipient of the 2021 John Unrau Canadian Writers in Person Scholarship and 2022 York University Continuing Student Scholarship. He continues to work in multiple genres like prose,
screenwriting, and comedy.
Tianyi Zhang
I’m Tianyi. I look for stories in life as my full time job, and trying to create life in stories in my leisure time. I love the beauty of life, I love to capture it with my camera, and what I love about the movies is that I can live so many different lives again and again.
kevin Le
Kevin Le (he/him) is a writer and film enthusiast currently studying Cinema and Media Studies at York University. He is an aspiring film programmer with a deep interest in the history of genre films and the moving image as a form of political resistance.
Elianna Perlmutter
Hi my name is Elianna Perlmutter and I’m a second year Film Production student at York University. I’m super excited to be a judge at the Toronto Teen Film Festival!! I decided I wanted to pursue film as a career when I was in high school after I took a movie making course. As an aspiring cinematographer, I'm passionate about working with digital and film cameras as well as experimenting with lighting to craft visually stunning and dramatic shots. I’m looking forward to watching your films and meeting you at the film festival!!
Lucian Austin
I'm a york film production student, and a passionate filmmaker and cinephile. I love films that focus on questionably ethical characters and films that play with reality. I can't wait to see everyone's work!
Bryden Doyle
Bryden Doyle is in his final year at York University in the Cinema and Media Studies undergraduate program. When he was in high school, he wrote reviews of new film releases for Inside Halton's website on a blog titled "At the Movies with Bryden". During his time at York University, he has contributed reviews to the school's newspaper, The Excalibur, and he has written articles for the school's arts magazine, Artichoke Magazine. He is currently the co-host of the film podcast Almost Major with Kevin Tudor and Charlie Nash.
